Module 6: Reducing Problem Behaviors
Functional Communication Training (FCT)
When a child (or adult) is non-verbal, or has limited communication skills, this person might have more problem behavior. In this case, these behaviors can communicate that the person is upset or doesn't like something. With FCT, we focus on teaching the person another way to make their needs known, whether it is spoken words, picture exchange, sign language, etc.
These videos give and overview of FCT. Please consult with a trained professional, such as a BCBA (Board Certified Behavior Analyst) to set up an FCT program for your child.
