Graphing Data

Once you begin collecting data on a behavior, it is helpful to graph the behavior to be able to clearly see any changes. For a review of graphing, please consult: http://nces.ed.gov/nceskids/pdf/graph_tutorial.pdf

The following is a graph with hypothetical data. Graphing the data helps us see the effectiveness of this intervention quickly and clearly.

In collecting the data for this graph, interval recording data were collected on a student's on-task behavior. The percentage of intervals he or she was on task are on the vertical axis, and the class days are on the horizontal axis. The intervention of a token economy (discussed later in this tutorial) began on the fifth class day that data were taken during.
